Welcome to Granville Village School

In February 1933 the Town voted to acquire land and
build a school in East Granville. The Village School was
completed and ready for the 80 students in December of that year
but not occupied until January 1934. At that time there were two
other schools in Granville. Ore Hill School had 17 students
while South Lane (Crest Lane) school had 15. These West students
moved into the newly built West Granville School in 1935. It was
a two room schoolhouse for many years unti1965, when an all
purpose room was added.
The
West Granville students received their education from first through eight grades
in this building until 1962, when the seventh grades went to the Village School.
Eventually it was agreed to have all of Granville kindergarten, first and second
grade students go to the West Granville School as space was scarce at the
Village School. With the newest Village addition completed in 1990, there was
now room from all Granville students to receive their education at the Village
School. The West School was closed for good. In 2006 the preschool program was
shut down, we now educate from Kindergarten to eight grade at the Village
School.
